Casting Kids Winners at Tinely Park Fishing and Outdoor Show
Maple Bassmasters held its annual Casting Kids competition on February 7th and 8th at the Tinley Park Fishing and Outdoor Show. The weather was unseasonably warm, but that didn’t seem to affect the attendance as more than 200 kids showed up to compete. Mike Towe, Vice President of Maple Bassmasters stated, “We had a really good turn out and managed to put more than 200 kids through the Casting Kids competition. This year was extremely competitive with several of the kids posting scores of 100 plus points, one contestant even had a perfect score of 50 points on the most difficult target. Our club takes a lot of pride in hosting this event and introducing these kids to the sport we love.”
The competition included 4 event sessions of competitors, in two age groups, over the two days. The winners of Saturday’s morning competition were Kourtney Washick from Griffith, Indiana (11–14 age group) and Nicholas Urick from Plainfield, IL (7–10 age group). The Saturday afternoon winners were Audrey Cooper from Oak Forest, IL (7-10 age group) and Chris Walter from Lemont, IL (11-14 age group).
